Not only has Heather Cho been vilified, sent to jail, and lost her job because of the “nut rage” incident now she is getting divorced and may lose custody of her kids:

Cho Hyun-ah (Heather Cho)

Cho Hyun-ah, former executive of Korean Air, who made global headlines with the infamous nut rage scandal, faces a divorce lawsuit from her husband of eight years.

According to legal sources on Monday, Cho’s husband filed a divorce suit to Seoul Family Court on April 2, and requested custody of their children.

Cho hasn’t yet appointed an attorney and the trial date hasn’t been set, Yonhap reported.

Mother of Korean Airlines “Rage” Sisters Under Investigation for Abusive Behavior

I think we know where the Cho daughters got their bad temper from:

The family of Hanjin Chairman Cho Yang-jo. At left is Cho Hyun-ah, President of the KAL Hotel Network, Cho Hyun-min, senior managing director at Korean Air, Lee Myung-hee, chairperson of the Ilwoo Foundation, Cho Yang-jo, and Cho Won-tae, president of Korean Air. All have been criticized for various incidents regarding abusive behavior toward staff and private citizens. [Hankyoreh]
Police said Monday they began a preliminary investigation into the wife of the Korean Air Line Co. chief over alleged physical and verbal violence.

Lee Myung-hee, wife of Chairman Cho Yang-ho and director of the Ilwoo Foundation, is suspected of hitting workers who were part of a construction crew hired to remodel her Seoul residence in 2013.

She allegedly told them to kneel down and slapped them in the face and kicked them in the shins.

She is also suspected of verbally insulting an employee at a Incheon-based hotel affiliated with Hanjin Group, which includes Korean Air, and later having the worker quit for not recognizing her.  [Korea Times]

Both Cho Daughters Fired from Korean Airlines By CEO Father

The Cho sisters have both been officially fired by their father from Korean Air:

Emily Cho

Add Hanjin Group’s Korean Air Lines Co. to the country’s family-run conglomerates that are seeing the founding clan’s representation diluted.

This time, Hanjin Chairman Cho Yang-ho pushed out his youngest daughter after allegations she threw water in the face of an advertising agency worker during a business meeting. For good measure, he also fired his eldest daughter who four years ago spent five months in jail after the so-called nut rage incident. The executive had forced a plane to return to the gate at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York because of the way she’d been served her macadamia nuts.

Cho Yang-ho, also chairman of Korean Air, said in an email Sunday he will promote professional business managers to replace the airline’s Senior Vice President Emily Cho, his youngest daughter, and Heather Cho, president of the Kal Hotel Network. The chairman announced the changes days after South Korean police had searched Korean Air headquarters following reports of the “water rage” incident.  [Bloomberg]

Korean Air Suspends “Water-Rage” Executive as Police Open Investigation

Cho Hyun-min admits to doing more more than throw water at an advertising agent, she even shoved the person:

Korean Air Lines Co., said Monday that it has temporarily suspended one of its executives — the daughter of the company’s chairman — for her alleged misbehavior toward an advertising agency employee.

South Korea’s national flagship carrier Senior Vice President Cho Hyun-min has been relieved from her current post until the ongoing police probe into the matter is concluded. It did not elaborate on what further action will be taken.

On Friday, law enforcement authorities launched a preliminary inquiry into Cho after local media reported that she yelled and threw water at a manager of an advertising agency during a meeting in Seoul last month.

She is the younger sister of Cho Hyun-ah, who was jailed in 2014 in the so-called nut rage scandal. Cho Hyun-ah ordered a plane full of passengers back to the boarding gate in New York because she was upset about the way her nuts were served.

The younger Cho was reportedly upset because the advertising employee did not properly answer her questions.

“I was foolish. I am sorry,” the heiress told reporters after arriving at Incheon International Airport on Sunday. Cho denied, however, that she threw water, although she admitted giving the person a shove. [Yonhap]

Korean Airlines CEO Being Investigated for Corruption

Does everyone remember Heather Cho of “Nut Rage” fame?  You would think her chaebol owning dad would keep a low profile after such a high profile incident involving his family.  Well that was not the case as he is now being targeted by authorities for corruption:

Cho Yang-ho

The police’s request for a warrant to arrest Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Yang-ho accused of fund misappropriation was rejected by the prosecution on Tuesday.

Cho, who doubles as CEO of Korean Air Lines Co., is under investigation over suspicion that he siphoned off 3 billion won (US$2.6 million) from company funds to pay for his house remodeling expenses between May 2013 and August 2014. Police made the writ request for Cho on Monday on possible charges of breach of trust.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said it instructed the police to further investigate the case to substantiate his charges.

He was questioned by police last month. He has denied any wrongdoing, saying he had no knowledge of the misappropriation.

The allegations were raised during a separate police investigation into possible tax fraud by an interior renovation company that works largely for business conglomerates.

In early July, police investigators raided the airline’s headquarters in western Seoul and confiscated accounting books and contract documents.  [Yonhap]

That must be some serious renovations to cost $2.6 million.

Picture of the Day: Korean Air Pilots Vote to Strike

Pilots vote to strike

Korean Air Lines planes are visible outside a window at a departure gate of Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, on Feb. 19, 2016. Unionized pilots of South Korea’s No. 1 carrier voted for a strike on the day which, if carried out, would be the first in 11 years. The pilots demanded a 37 percent wage hike, while the management offered a 1.9 percent increase. The union said it is not planning on an immediate walkout, but will gradually raise the strike participation level depending on how talks proceed with the management. (Yonhap)
