Man Tries to Open Passenger Door During Jeju Air Flight to Incheon

It looks like this guy was trying to be a copy cat of the last wacko that tried this stunt on an Asiana Airlines flight a few weeks ago:

A passenger attempted to open the plane door during flight early Monday, the second such incident in less than a month after the shocking mid-air door opening accident on an Asiana Airlines flight.

The door did not open in Monday’s incident, and no one was hurt.

The unidentified passenger tried to force the door open on a Jeju Air flight that was on its way to Incheon from Cebu in the Philippines, according to the airline and online postings by passengers.

The Boeing 737 plane, carrying about 180 passengers aboard, had departed from Cebu at 1:49 a.m.

About an hour into the flight, the passenger began to act strange, complaining he felt pressure on his chest, according to Jeju Air.

The flight crew offered to move him to a seat near the jump seats, but he continued his abnormal behavior and ran toward the exit to force the door open.

The flight attendants and some other passengers subdued the passenger, three hours before landing, and the person was immediately handed over to the Incheon airport police afterward, Jeju Air said.

South Korea Toughens Penalties For In Flight Violence

The next time someone gets drunk and violent on an airplane there are now tougher laws for South Korean authorities to punish them with:

The government is toughening penalties for violent behavior on passenger planes.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Thursday said the National Assembly passed a revision to aviation laws whereby violent passengers who threaten flight safety now face up to 10 years in prison, and five years even when their actions do not endanger a flight.

The revision, which mostly doubles the old penalties, came after a high-profile incident in December last year, when a drunk passenger went on a rampage on a Korean Air flight that carried 80s crooner Richard Marx and therefore made international headlines.  [Chosun Ilbo]

Organization Claims Korea Built Airplane 300 Years Before the Wright Brothers

At best this so called airplane looks more like hang-glider which the Koreans do not even have any physical or design evidence to support its existence:

Korea had built an airplane 300 years ahead of the Wright brothers, although none of the ancient plane or its design has been left, the head of an organization to restore the ancient plane, an activist claimed Thursday.

“Korea is the origin of the flying aircraft. We should perfectly restore the plane to get recognition of it worldwide,” Kim Dong-min, chairman of the Jinju Bicha Restoration Commitee, said at a seminar in Jinju, 434 kilometers southeast of Seoul.  [Yonhap]
