Older South Koreans probably don’t realize their teenage first, last, and really only line of defense are not as patriotic about a free South Korea as they are infatuated by the latest Kpop fashions.
Don’t forget these kids have never been “free”, per se. The rigorous and ineffective study demands, long hours, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and steady drumbeat of agitprop from Beijing and Pyongyang is taking a toll.
I hope I’m wrong about this, too. The changes I saw take place between 1993 and 2014 were appalling.

Seoul’s decision not to extend the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) shows how the political and trade dispute between the Asian neighbors and U.S. allies has hit some of the region’s most sensitive security issues. The agreement had been due for automatic renewal on Saturday.
