Haley Claims Harsh Trump Rhetoric Was Ruse Against North Korea

If it was in fact a ruse it seems disclosing that fact now is not a good idea in case the President has to return to fire and fury rhetoric:

Outgoing United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley said she used President Donald Trump’s unpredictability and bellicose rhetoric to persuade other world leaders they had to crack down on North Korea or the U.S. would take military action.
“I bounced it off the president’s rhetoric, saying, ‘I can’t stop him. I’m not gonna be able to control him. We’ve gotta get this done,'” Haley told The Atlantic magazine in an interview published Friday.
“The president had really strengthened his rhetoric at that point,” Haley said, presumably referring to Trump’s threat to unleash “fire and fury” on the North Korean regime.
“All of that was very, very helpful, because I would say, ‘You know, I don’t know what he’s gonna do,'” she recounted. ” … I said, ‘He very well could use military action.’”
Haley said she knew Trump’s harsh rhetoric was a ruse. Asked if the U.S. was really close to war with North Korea, she said no.
“Having said that, if they had launched something, if it had come near the U.S., the president totally would have. But at the time, were we gonna instigate something? No,” she told The Atlantic.

Trump is a wuss and there was no way he would order a pre-emptive attack on the DPRK.

Unlike previous American presidents who where clearly all talk and no action… as they did not even attempt to lay the logistical groundwork for any threats… Trump quietly did a couple of preparatory things in and out of South Korea that got North Korea’s attention.

And for the first time, North Korea saw that American threats were prepared to be immediately carried out.

Trump clearly offered a choice between prepared violence and a respectful meeting. North Korea took the better option. This is fantastic diplomacy.

While the never-Trump media tries to pick apart the current situation and downplay any accomplishment, the fact is that North Korea has not carried out any provocative testing and the two Koreas are deescalating in ways that are meaningful for peace and cooperation without actually weakening South Korean defense.

Poor RockMarne… he thinks the goal is a pre-emptive strike on the DPRK.

The Pyeongchang Olympics came at a bad time — forced us to let off the gas.

Recall the idea of a NEO was bantered about, but if we had actually executed — THAT would have left KJU shaking in his high heeled loafers.

I can understand the Trumplings who drink an occasional glass of the Trump Kool-Aid and even the Trumpists who drink the Trump Kool-aid by the quart. But Setnaffa and Chickens*** must be Trumpians who snort the Trump Kool-aid right from the packet while it is still in powdered form. To be clear, Trump is a wuss and there was no way he would order a pre-emptive attack on the DPRK.

What the hell I’ll feed the troll… @Rockmarne looking at the current situation there is no need for a preemptive strike against the Norks. We had plenty of opportunities during the Low Intensity War of the 1960s-1970s, USS Pueblo, EC-135, the Axe Murders, and 3 admitted tunnels (there are more) and hundreds of other smaller events since 1953. Trump is probably the first President since Reagan that might consider a preemptive strike against the Norks. His advisers though are forcing him to keep looking at the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent instead of South Asia where trouble is brewing.
