Six Female US Soldiers Earn the Expert Infantryman Badge for the First Time

Congratulation to these soldiers at Ft. Bragg:

Women quietly broke through barriers last fall when they became the first in the Army to earn the prestigious Expert Infantryman Badge at Fort Bragg.

The badge, which was created in the 1940s, only recently opened to women when the Department of Defense struck down regulations that prevented them from serving in infantry jobs. The women earned the badge during testing with hundreds of male candidates in November — about two years after infantry jobs opened to women.

“This historic achievement is a reminder of the great things we can achieve when women are seen and treated as equals and given the same chance to contribute to their country,” U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth said in a statement. The Democrat from Illinois was among the first Army women to fly combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  [Stars & Stripes]

You can read more at the link, but what is ironic about this is that female ROK soldiers have been able to earn the EIB before female US Army soldiers:

I wasn’t in a combat-series while I was in nor did I care enough to read up on all the various chest candy so forgive me a yawn or two at what’s basically a “Hey you passed this test!” medal. Another horseshit reminder of the hypocrisy and fallacy of ye olde “Hey, everyone’s primary MOS is 11B, your job is actually your secondary MOS.”.

Where are the E_B’s for the other MOS’es? Medics got em, where are the others? Yeah the EIB (and CIB) can go F itself.

I kind of left out my main beef with those kind of badges. If the Army wants to recognize high performance in a career cool but ignoring the overall retarded way the Army does promotion both the CIB and EIB are worth 30 points, add to it I would assume anyone getting the CIB is going to get a CAB to boot that’s 90. Let’s not even get into the points for pretty much running out the door of a plane and letting the equipment do all the work. That’s some BS.

They even have a #$%^&* drivers/mechanic badge.

Single-handedly I could bring a CPN online no problem. JNN? Pfftt.. gimmie a little more time and the whole Division get’s tactical comms and I’ll give you VoIP to boot on 3 colors. Minus the links (TROPO, HCLOS, etc) because that wasn’t my lane, I was all into my job and my job required a fuckton more grey matter than driving. Where TF are the badges for those who went all in on their MOS? We sure got the ass’ed half of it by having to do a slew of pretend-infantry stuff under the guise of “we’re all 11B’s first”.

Cute how they don’t mention how many females tried out. I suspect all or substantially all females who showed up were passed along whether they made the grade or not. The fix is in.

Getting the EIB is all about where the grenade rolled when the threw it! Some get a lucky roll some don’t.
