To hell with whales.
After years of whining and complaining from my wife, I went to Ulsan and bought the entire skin off one of those stupid whales. I packed it in ice in a big Styrofoam box and drove it to Songtan and gave it to a leather shop along with a bunch of money.
They fiddled around with it for a month and finally gave me a nicely gift-wrapped package which I presented to my wife. It was beautiful… but she was horrified. Then she was angry. She hated it and wouldn’t wear it. We fought for the rest of the day.
I don’t know what the hell I did wrong. I just wanted her to have that minke coat she has been dreaming of.
It wasn’t as bad as my trip to Israel though. I felt really out of place as the only guy with a harpoon at the Wailing Wall.
