Media Criticizes President Trump for North Korea Strategy Review
|As everyone has seen the US government has been filled with leakers ever since President Trump took office and here is the latest leak:
A White House internal review of strategy on North Korea features the possibility of both military force as well as regime change in order to thwart Pyongyang’s nuclear-weapons threat, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the process.
The strategy review, reported to have begun a fortnight ago, combined with U.S. President Donald Trump‘s January vow to prevent North Korea from ever testing intercontinental ballistic missiles. The report – which could not be verified by CNBC – hints at a possible shift in U.S. foreign policy which could potentially rattle allies of both nations. [CNBC]
A strategy review is just that, a review of different strategic options to address the North Korean threat which military strikes and regime change has long been potential options. I am sure there are other options in the report to include negotiations or the strategic patience option the Obama administration followed. Just because a report has military options does not mean he is going to use them. I bet the Obama administration had similar reports that looked at the viability of military options as well.
This looks like another example of media sensationalism to me.
This picking and choosing what is going to be reported in the mainstream media in the U.S. is starting to piss me off. “Anything to make Trump look bad – anything else is fake news” must be the new slogan hanging over every news reporter, editor, producer and manager’s desk these days. Also, “features the possibility” is not a phrase which I would hang my hat on if I were a reporter. To me this means there’s an outside chance that Trump might be considering this. To not consider all options in a situation like North Korea’s would be foolish to the extreme. We have to be prepared for “Little Kim” to pop off an ICBM at any time and what if the damn thing malfunctions and drops on South Korea or Japan, or even hopefully, China? That last option is just a fantasy of mine. I would love to see what would happen if a nK missile dropped in downtown Beijing or Shanghai. But I digress…
I agree with our esteemed moderator GIKorea. There are probably many more options on the table for President Trump in this policy review process. At least this time CNBC caveated the report. I guess I should be thankful for small things.

@289 the bias of the mainstream media is pretty amazing to watch right now. They don’t even show any objectivity at all now when it comes to Trump.
Remember when the Obama administration was caught wiretapping journalists and then for the first time the administration faced two weeks of negative Benghazi coverage in response. It was the first time the administration faced any serious negative media coverage over Benghazi.
It left me thinking why weren’t they doing serious reporting on Benghazi two years prior and it took them getting wiretapped to report on it?
