Grammy Nominated British DJ Arrested for Smuggling Date Rape Drug Into Korea

A British DJ has been arrested for drug smuggling in Korea:

A Grammy-nominated British DJ was arrested in Korea for alleged drug smuggling, police said Thursday.

Video footage shows him at a customs checkpoint at Incheon International Airport with a 1.5-liter bottle filled with an alleged illegal drug, they said.

Sources said he was Mark Lewis. Lewis, 52, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005 in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album for “I Found U” that he produced.

Sources said Lewis allegedly smuggled 3.78 liters of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), also known as the date rape drug, into Korea four times from January to June. The value is estimated at 370 million won ($340,000) and the quantity enough to dose 1,000 people. [Korea Times]

“The value is estimated at 370 million won ($340,000) and the quantity enough to dose 1,000 people.”

Let’s get out the calculator and double check our drug cop math.

So $340,000 is the value of 1000 doses… drop the zeros… one dose is 340 bucks?

If that’s the street value, I want to sell my drugs on that street.

340 buys a pretty nice prostitute… even in Korea.

I call boolshyt.

“so, who tipped off the keystone Korean cops….usually hard pressed stop people running red lights….”

In reverse order…

Young conscription cops serving out their mandatory service and low-level street cops do not represent the full spectrum of Korean police. There are actually professional levels of police, from white collar to homicide to drug, who actually solve crimes.

In this case, the discovery may have been made by Korea Customs rather than police.

The high-tech 3D baggage scanners at Incheon may have noticed a bottle-shaped object with unusual characteristics or perhaps one of the chemical sensors was triggered.

Or maybe it was the cops… listening in on the masterminds as they arranged shipment…

…which would violate the first rule of drug muling… which is…

If anybody but you knows you are doing it, you immediately subcontract the job out to an unrelated person on a previous flight and then you pass through with a water bottle filled with actual water. If you get busted, you can tell them to eat a turd, you know they are on to you, and you still got your stash into the country… though smart to line up another buyer.

I could get crazy rich if I were a criminal mastermind.

Muah hah hah hah ha!

When it comes to drugs, Korean cops are pretty hardcore and they are very aggressive. And even though they are supposed to have probable cause for things like forcing someone to submit to a urinalysis or hair follicle test, and they are supposed to have a search warrant to search someone’s apartment for drugs – the Korean legal system doesn’t have a problem with Korean cops acting without probable cause or a search warrant – and will convict someone even if the arrest came about through an illegal search and seizure. Basically, they treat it as “the ends justifies the means.”

And when the urinalysis results are negative and they tear apart an apartment and don’t find anything – they say, “Sorry. Just doing my job.”

LIMERICK

“Euhno refused to be frisked at the final security counter, saying she was wearing a napkin due to her monthly period.”

She had it all in the bag
but she said she was on the rag.
The excuse was just bad
to claim a red pad
when it was really just a red flag.
