Is Old Navy Ad Controversy Another Example of Media Click Bait

To me the whole controversy over the Old Navy interracial advertisement seems to me to be the media taking a few racist Twitter comments and making a race based controversy out of it as click bait.  The only thing I learned out of all of this is that Senator McCain’s son Jack is happily married to an Air Force Captain:

Old Navy’s staff probably generated the “hate controversy” themselves.
The more click bait, the better for them.
I think Jack should’ve ignored the “scandal”. Unless he wants to invite public curiosity/scrutiny into his marriage, which isn’t a good idea.

I don’t know, GI Korea.
He sounds kind of juvenile to me…
If I saw a picture of his wedding photo I’d think it was nice.
Now with the “Take that you ignorant racists!” “Eat it!” and so forth. It’s a little strange.
You’re probably right about politics. Most people here are probably in interracial marriages. I am, and this strikes me as strange.

Maybe he should make a rap song about his marriage.
“Take dat, yo! Gangsta Jack is out with my dime so she don’t bounce…”

…Wouldn’t just a nice photo of the wedding and “my beautiful bride” offer the same message, but less gratuitously and more elegantly?
At any rate, point take GI. 🙂

Pardon me, Liz, but your last post came off a little bit….I dunno…..racist…..

That was intentional: IRONY.
I think it’s kind of racist to make a big point about the race of one’s spouse.

Especially in such a damned juvenile way. Okay, yeah this bothers me…because he’s making a point that his wife is black. It’s like saying, “In your face! SEE I married a black chick. Haterz in your face.”
Which is just bleeping weird.

It seems like EVERY time there is some big racist event, ot turns out it was a hoax…

…with the excuse about just innocently trying to “draw attention” to the issue… which is frequently the end of it…

…except for those who never got the follow-up and still believe millions of racist are running around distributing nooses and making turd swastikas.

This has all the indications of a marketing plot.

– make an ad with beautiful people that is hardly controversial

– encourage a handful of crazy racists in a county of 300,000,000 people to get worked up about it… or manufacture the hate of it can’t be found

– bask in the attention

– express appropriate outrage and indignantly claim how your company won’t give in to racism.

How about a 300 pound welfare queen with a strap-on or a 90 pound crack ho handcuffed to a toilet instead of a normal-looking black woman who is clearly appropriating white culture with her clothing style. That would generate some real controversy.

Sidenote: That white dude better be checkin’ on that soul sister of his ’cause that little kid looks full-on black without a drop of mulatto in him. She might have been foolin’ ’round in the woodpile, if ya know what I mean.

The whole thing is a sham.
The last two times Target was boycotted (the last had some improvisational dance routines on Youtube with the song “People are People”) the issues were homosexual marriage (Target had the bad manners to support a political candidate that…turns out, was against gay marriage), and some plus sized woman’s item of clothing that was inauspiciously called “Manatee grey”.
They need their victimhood badge to get those SJWs back.
And I still won’t boycott Target.
I don’t care if a Bruce Jenner uses my restroom.

Oh sorry…forgot is was Old Navy, not Target.
Heh, same sort of concept different store.
I’m so tired of generated faux outrage.

Jack McCain made a nice offer…

…a picture of his wife and “eat it”?

I don’t know, man… your diick’s been there. I don’t think I can do it.

LOL CH.
(sorry Ole Tanker, my attention span is too short to sit through a mandatory 30 seconds of ads…is there another version?) 🙂
I had some friends over the last night.
One is a mixed race couple, with two kids. Maybe I should’ve taken pictures and tweeted online about my self described bravery (“fighting hate”) in feed black people and inviting them to my home. Then I could run for public office.

Liz. I understand the difficulties faced by those afflicted with “Attention Deficit Disorder”. The clip was clever parody of “12 Angry Men. Instead of a knife, it was a Dodill. I imagined a modern day Air Force Courts Martial jury in debate. replace the dodil producer as a female, homosexual, or transgender instead. “It’s mine!” they declare. Maybe imagine a pair of shoes as evidence. Well, anyway I stumbled upon it, as I don’t live my life on the computer. I wanted to post on an open forum but, the race thing was there. I believe the interacial marraige topic is a ship, dead in the water anyway! Why beat a dead burro?

I clicked on it again that this time there were only 15 seconds of commercials. I can sit through that! Gah…Amy is crass. Funny though. 🙂
