“Recently, this has even led to fights between residents and the inminban heads. Some women have gotten so angry that they’ve stormed into the local propaganda offices complaining that they incinerated their goods without even telling them, she explained.

I’ve read several books about North Korea, and one of the commonalities I’ve noticed is that when NK women get angry enough to lash out, NK authorities many times back down. In that way, I think NK women may be similar to their South Korean sisters. A lovely Korean woman once told me, “In Korea, there is a saying: The MAN rules the land, but WHO rules the man?” If the NK government doesn’t watch it, they’re eventually going to push the wrong button with the female population of NK and THEY will bring about the regime’s collapse. No OPLANs necessary. No military combat. No UN sanctions. Just the “Pissed-off Housewives of the DPRK” (a new reality show that I want to produce when it all finally hits the fan).
