China Demands that Japan Apologize for Historical Wrongs, Should China Apologize for Korean War Aggression as Well?
|It will be interesting to see what terms the Japanese government agrees to, but I would love to see South Korea makes the same demands of the Chinese government to apologize for their aggression during the Korean War and continued division of the peninsula:
Beijing has reportedly demanded the government and ruling party of Japan include the words “colonialism,” “aggression” and apology” in the so-called “Abe statement,” set to be released next month.
The Japanese daily Sankei Shimbun reported on Tuesday that Chinese foreign ministry officials are trying to persuade Japanese officials regarding Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s planned statement marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The newspaper said that Chinese officials are also demanding Tokyo inherit the apologetic Murayama statement that included the words “colonial rule,” “aggression,” “apology” and “remorse.” [KBS World Radio]
Was China accused of committing any crimes during the war?
When is Greece going to apologize to Persia for the war of aggression they waged in 331 BCE? What about reparations?
@1- Mao and Stalin conspired to start the war and then when the war did not go the way they expected Mao escalated the aggression against South Korea by sending in hundred of thousands of his own troops. His aggression against the ROK has led to the continued division of the peninsula to this day. Should plotting the overthrow of a neighboring country and being responsible for the deaths of up to a million Koreans be considered a crime?
As far as their conduct during the war the Chinese were well known to push refugees towards UN lines and then have some of their Soldiers dress up in civilian garb to pass through the front lines. Once again should this be considered a war crime or smart warfare? Then their treatment of POWs was not exactly the most pleasant though the Chinese were much better with the treatment of POWs then the Imperial Japanese or North Koreans.
The Imperial Japanese are now ancient history and Japan today is not the cause of any continued division of a country or a territorial threat to anyone in the region. Yes even Dokdo is not under threat of Japanese aggression despite the claims of the lunatic fringe. Yet you hear continued demands for more apologies and whether they are sincere enough.
Compared that to China which continues to enable a regime committed to the destruction of the ROK, repatriates refugees who face imprisonment or death, and have a modern day Korean comfort women system within China.
China has a lot to apologize for.
Just saw GI’s post and could not agree more. Its always a wonder. One thing is few photos exist, or they are very difficult to find, of PLA troops in Seoul or anywhere South of 38th, but they do exist. Also Korean schools seem to not mention it much if at all as most younger Koreans have no idea about the need to forcibly eject the PLA itself, not just NK troops, from Seoul. And the goal of China had they been victorious: of course no ROK. Seems pretty clear an apology is necessary when they tried to DPRK vassal-state the entire peninsula.
When will Democrats apologize for Jim Crow?
