Woman Holds Topless Protest In Seoul

This is a protest I think most men would want to go check out:

A topless woman appeared in Seoul’s busy downtown area around noon Wednesday with her private parts only covered in tape to protest for women’s right to bare their breasts.

Holding a sign that roughly translates as “Why are men allowed to expose their nipples while women are not?” she later put on a bikini top to cover herself up when a crowd of men had gathered around her.

Police arrived at the scene to stop her and the woman left at around 1:30 p.m. Police said they had no idea why she was holding the protest.

The 27-year-old woman, identified only by her surname Lee, had caused a stir last month after a video clip of her dancing topless at a night club went viral on the Internet. She is known to be an ex-dealer of German luxury cars.  [Chosun Ilbo]

You can read the rest at the link, but when asked why she was protesting topless she said it was the only way to get people’s attention.

“Why are men allowed to expose their nipples while women are not?”

I am very happy to report, as a trendsetter in both tolerance and diversity, that at my place, women are ENCOURAGED to expose their nipples while men are not.

Leading the charge in equality and women’s rights is not an easy task… but I constantly strive to do my best.

“she later put on a bikini top to cover herself up when a crowd of men had gathered around her.”

Mission accomplished, it would seem.

A better question is not “How did I miss this?”

…but “How did you find this?”

Googling “topless ROK Drop” is some seriously niche pørn.

In other news, I would guess the protest involves her getting in legal or social trouble for dancing topless in a club… so she doubled down by taking it public.

Equality is a fundamental concept in Korean law. I hope she managed to topple the windmill.

By coincidence, I saw a strip show last weekend. Afterwards, I had coffee with the woman and asked the legalities of the matter. She said no genitals and no nipples. She wore pasties during the show.

It inspired me to consider if I could make an American-style strip club.

It is not being done… so that is my first clue.

“How did you find this?”
Internally via `the Drop. It was a related link when I was commenting on that “Tweet of the Day: Holding Back the Crowd” post.

Pasties? Bah, full nude or my wallet stays in my pocket. Can’t go to those anymore anyway, kinda developed a “problem” back in the day with those and I can’t be spending money on foolishness I can see on the internet.

In any case that lady has a full on uphill battle, wearing wetsuits at the beach is still the norm and she wants to try getting women to be able to just roll shirtless on the streets…
